Nee er zou geen concerten reeks komen nee een eenmalige optreden meer niet, althans dat was de eerste berichten toen Queen bekend maakte een optreden te verzorgen met Adam Lambert. Inmiddels is het uitgebreidt met een 3e concert in HMV Hammersmith Apollo in Londen op 14 juli, de andere 2 worden op 11 en 12 juli gegeven in dezelfde hal.

Queen + Adam Lambert
Eerst was er het nieuws dat Queen terug zal keren naar de plek waar het (achteraf) allemaal eindigde, Knebworthpark was op 9 augusuts 1986 het toneel van het laatste concert ooit met Freddie Mercury. Freddie Mercury kon door zijn ziekte het toeren niet meer aan en wist dat het ernstig was, zijn enige taak was zo veel mogelijk materiaal op nemen.
Dit deed hij tot zijn dood op 24 november 1991.
Queen + Adam Lambert Will Rock Moscow
Weer een optreden van Queen met Adam Lambert, volgens Queen zijn dit de enige twee concerten die geplande staan voor Queen en Adam Lambert.
Op 7 Juli staan ze op het Sonisphere Festival Knebworth, het tweede is op 30 juli in het Olympic Arena in Moskou.
Nogmaals dit zijn de enige twee concerten gepland, maar waar rook is os vuur.

Er komt weer een nieuwe Queen tour, dit keer niet met Paul Rodgers maar met American Idol 2009 finalist Adam Lambert. Adam Lambert heeft dit bevestigd dat hij samen met Queen (Brian May en Roger Taylor) dit jaar op tournee zal gaan.
Lambert had al met Queen opgetreden tijdens de Mtv European Music Awards in November, dit maakte de weg vrij voor de nodige speculaties. Lees verder
Mott The Hoople heeft Queen leren “Rocken”
Alle credits aan Mott The Hoople, zij zijn volgens Brian May en Roger Taylor de gene die Queen heeft leren “rocken”. Queen zat tijdens de 1974 VS tour van Mott The Hoople in het voorprogramma, en tijdens deze tour heeft Queen het geleerd.
“That was when we learned how to be rock stars. Just as you thought the day was over, one of Mott would burst into your room, loaded with bottles and whatever else, and off you’d go again. It was very, very full-on and very, very exciting.” aldus Roger Taylor.
Tijdens deze tour heeft Queen dus geleerd hoe je een goede show kan geven en waarbij de bekende glam-rock act vorm kreeg.
Roger Taylor zegt hierover: “Mott were perfect for us. They had an open-minded, very rock ‘n’ roll, insane audience. They were liberated, colourful – not the normal rock crowd… The shows got bigger, but it was rough. Fred (Mercury, frontman) wouldn’t get out of the van some nights. He and Brian had black and white fingernails and literally wore dresses, but the tough audiences in Liverpool and Glasgow and Newcastle loved us.”
Mott the Hoople was een Engelse rockband uit de jaren 70. De band is voornamelijk bekend van het nummer All the Young Dudes dat door David Bowie geschreven was voor de band.
Tijdens het Freddie Mercury Tribute concert for AIDS Awareness traden oud leden van Mott The Hoople Ian Hunter en Mick Ronson samen met David Bowie, zij songen All The Young Dudes wat het cirkeltje weer rond maakte.
Re-release eerste vijf Queen albums

Queen bestaat dit jaar 40 jaar en dat was een van de redenen om over te stappen van EMI naar Universal Music, en met deze “verhuizing” volgt een de re-release van hun albums. De Greatest Hits 1 en 2 zijn al opnieuw uitgebracht en op 14 maart zal de eerste 5 albums van Queen opnieuw uitgebracht worden.
“Queen”, “Queen II”, “Sheer Heart Attack”, “A Night At The Opera” en “A Day At The Races” zullen allen opnieuw in de winkels liggen als een “normale” cd en als een dubbel cd met een aantal bonus tracks. De deluxe box zal via iTunes verkrijgbaar zijn met nog nooit eerder vertoonde foto’s en video’s. Of het ook in de winkels zal komen te liggen is mij nog niet duidelijk.

Eindelijk zal op 8 juni de langverwachte release van Queen + Paul Rodgers uit komen.
Het concert die hiervoor in aanmerking is gekomen was eigenlijk al bekend, het is de registratie van het concert die op 12 september 2008 werd gehoudenin Krakov Oekraine.
Het zal utigebracht worden op DVD en 2 cd’s met als titel ‘Live At The Ukraine’.

When it comes to taking on logic-defying challenges, Queen have never fought shy: think Hyde Park, Latin America, Live Aid. All these years later, Queen are still living adventurously. Here’s the case in point: just weeks ahead of the start of the band’s 2008 Queen + Paul Rodgers’ The Cosmos Rocks tour the band were approached to help Ukraine’s AntiAids Foundation reach out to the youth of the country with the message ‘Don’t Let Aids Ruin Your Life”.
In a country facing the highest rising rate of infection throughout Europe, it is a message which cannot wait. For Queen + Paul Rodgers – already well prepared for a tour opening with two nights at Moscow’s SCO arena, it would mean some drastic rethinking. The venue on offer was Kharkov, Ukraine’s, historic Freedom Square, a place so big that during World War II it was used to land planes. For the band and crew it meant “Everyone had to run very fast, very suddenly, but then most of the great and worthwhile things in your life are a little dangerous.” Despite the seeming impossibility of it, Queen + Paul Rodgers made it to Freedom Square for the night of September 12, 2008.
Over 350,000 Ukrainians came to see them play and more than 10million homes watched the show live on television. In all, more than 20 million took part in what the band recall as “an unforgettable experience…one of those rare things in life you know you will never forget. A meeting in Music, but also a coming together to fight a common enemy…”

Eindelijk een boxset van Queen dat was mijn eerste reactie, na jaren van geruchten komt het er eindelijk in 4 boxen en box een komt dit jaar nog.
Dit jaar en om precies te zijn 1 december en om de release bij te staan is er een website in de lucht gebracht.
Deze website geeft een overzicht over wat je kan verwachten en is te vinden via deze link.
Al jaren wordt er geroepen dat er een boxset uitkomt van Queen zoals de Freddie Mercury boxset uit 2000.
De Singles Collection Box Volume 1 zal 28 tracks bevatten verdeeld over 13 cd’s en is de eerste box van 4 en bevat de periode 1973 tot 1979.

Subject: 1977 ‘News Of The World’ promo Robots – Where are they now???
On BBC Radio 2 in the UK, there is a Sunday afternoon item called ‘Where Are They Now?’
This is for people trying to trace a long lost friend or ex-girlfriend/boyfriend, or a family member they’ve lost contact with. Details of where they once lived or worked are read out and then sometimes people are reunited. It’s a rather nice concept.
Anyway… I was thinking that perhaps in the I WANT IT ALL! memorabilia book we could do a NOTW Robots Where Are They Now. I mean of course those wonderful old grey (person size) promotional robots of 1977.
I would love to hear from anyone who has a robot, no matter what condition. Great, bad, terrible, battered to Hell!!!
Where did they all end up?? What are they doing now?? How many ended up in dustbins, attics, garages, sheds, married, divorced, in prison, on bonfires, or in the old promotional shop in the sky??
Even if you know where one ended up but you don’t have it now, it would be good to know. But most of all I’d like a photo or two of the surviving robots, and details of their location. I’d also like to know how and where you obtained them.
Brian May has one, my friend in Holland has one, and a guy in Belgium was selling a FAB condition one a few years ago.
